Blood tracking

Besides the puppy school that we have attended to already three times, there was a blood tracking training/testing event. These events are quite rare in Estonia so we definitely wanted to participate - no matter Ruudi is so small - we wanted to train also ourselves.

So what did we see, do and learn. First we got some tips how to mark down a blood track. We used deep frozen wild boar blood and skin. The track was about 20 m long and consisted at least one "resting place" where we put more blood. Interesting tip was how to mark the track to be able to recognise it later, and of course the first rule is not to step on it after the blood has been put on the track using a sponge. Our main goal was just to see what Ruudi thinks about it and just to train ourselves.

Ruudi was actually quite interesting in the track. Of course a puppy wants to smell everything but we could recognize that the track was also quite interesting. We repeated the command "Otsi!" (search) that he already knows since he likes to search for the roe deer leg in our apartment. And of course awarded him when he fould the leg that was put at the end of the track.

There was a gunshot made on a random time when we were "on the track" and of course Ruudi was already familiar with it and didn't care about it at all.

Here is a small video about the event:
